April 1, 2025 Note: this program was updated as new tariffs were placed on prototype parts made with aluminum or steel as per Section 232 on March 12, 2025. We now exclude these materials from our DDP upgrade program.
To streamline international shipments, Fictiv offers a DDP (delivered duty paid) shipment upgrade program for as many prototype orders delivered to a US address as possible. With DDP, Fictiv becomes the Importer of Record for your shipment and takes responsibility to ensure your order reaches its final destination to mitigate the risk of shipment delays.
How it Works
After your order is placed, you'll be asked if your parts are for Commercial or Prototype purposes.
A part qualifies as a “prototype” if it meets the following criteria:
Your part is NOT intended to be sold or incorporated into other products that are sold
Your part is to be used exclusively for development, testing, product evaluation, or quality control purposes
Your order is limited to non-commercial quantities in accordance with industry practices
Your order may qualify for a DDP shipment upgrade if it meets all of the following criteria:
Your entire order qualifies as a prototype
Your order’s destination address is within the U.S.
You have provided a detailed description of each part in your order
You have provided a detailed explanation of the Parent Product & End-Use
Your order is limited to non-commercial quantities, which cannot exceed 100 units per part in each order
Your order does not have material excluded from prototype provision per U.S. Customs Regulations. Please note, exclusions currently exist on extruded aluminum, aluminum, and steel.
Fictiv shipping must be utilized at the time of checkout, and costs accepted
Customers are required to be as descriptive as possible when completing the (1) Part Description and (2) Parent Product & End-Use (i.e., "Application") fields.
You must complete all mandatory fields in the customs information section on our platform within 48 hours of checkout to be eligible for the shipment upgrade or contact our customer program management team to provide details before any of the parts have shipped.
After submission of this information, a member of the Fictiv team will determine if the information is sufficient. If we determine the information you provided is insufficient, the sales term will remain EXW (Ex Works). If you are utilizing your customer account for shipping, then the incoterm will remain EXW regardless of whether it meets the prototype provision or not.
